12/11/2012. By Faith Thomas, Local Politics Reporter:
Thousands of Ford workers in the Belgium city of Genk protested against Ford's further cuts.

The company intends to axe more jobs in Europe at the factory in Genk Belgium where 4,300 workers would lose their jobs. This follows Ford's announcement to close the Southampton plant where 500 jobs will be lost.

The Southampton workers, who will be given redundancy packages, have remained quieter than those in Belgium so far.

In a Ford Statement Allan Mulally, Ford President and CEO, said: "We will address the crisis in Europe with a laser focus on new products, a stronger brand and increased cost efficiency."

Production of the Ford C-Max and Grand C-MAX cars would move to Valencia Spain and then onto Germany by 2014.

The Transit Van production from Southampton will move to Turkey.
