Plans for a pioneering new school in Winchester city to tackle a shortage of places have been revealed by the county council. The idea is that The Westgate secondary school would become a school for pupils aged four to 16, making it the first county-run combined primary and secondary school in Hampshire. If it gets the go-ahead, the new school would open its doors to the first reception pupils in September 2014.
